Training is held every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Anybody in the community is welcome to attend our weekly training sessions.  In order to become an official member of the department, you must do the following:

1. Show up to 6 consecutive meetings on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m.

2. Complete four National Incident Management System (NIMS): IS-100, 200, 700 and 800

3. Find a member to be your Sponsor, who will mentor you and will speak on your behalf when it comes time to vote you in.

No, our volunteer firefighters come from all walks of life.  A few members are retired; some are students; some have part-time jobs; and others have full-time jobs.

Yes.  Some of our volunteer firefighters are also paid firefighters. Additionally, we have certified paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) as well as some Registered Nurses.  Our volunteer fire chief, Adam Hawkins, is a certified SAFD firefighter and a certified paramedic.

Yes, you do not have to live in our service area in order to become a Bergheim volunteer firefighter.
